Spectrophotometer (including color evaluation and management software)

Based on the spectrophotometric principle, the spectrodensitometer acquires spectral data of objects within the visible light range via hardware components including light sources, spectroscopic systems, and detectors.

Integrated with powerful color evaluation and management software, it can not only accurately calculate color parameters such as tristimulus values, chromaticity coordinates, and color difference, but also features functions like color formulation prediction, quality control chart generation, and color comparison and analysis of products from different batches.

With intuitive data, charts and a visualized operation interface, it fully meets the requirements for precise color management and analysis in industries such as printing, textiles, and coatings.

YD5010 Plus Spectrophotometer Application

It is mainly applied in industries such as printing, packaging, advertising, photography, textiles, coatings and plastics, as well as in relevant color management institutions and scientific research units. It can accurately measure color parameters including density, chromaticity and spectral reflectance. By conducting color measurements on samples like printed materials, textiles and coatings, it achieves precise color matching and quality control

With the assistance of color evaluation and management software, it also enables the analysis, storage and comparison of color data, the establishment of color standards and databases, and the research on the variation rules of colors under different media and environments, thus providing comprehensive solutions for color management and process optimization.

FAQs About YD5010 Spectrodensitometer

  1. Turn on the hazemeter and check if the instrument’s display screen shows normally and if the buttons are responsive.

  2. Verify that the hazemeter’s battery power is sufficient. Replace the battery or connect an external power supply if necessary.

  3.  Confirm that the instrument’s measurement mode is set correctly. Select the appropriate measurement unit and range based on actual needs.

Colorimeters or spectrophotometers are used to measure liquid color. They measure light coming through or reflecting off the liquid. Readings can be reported as Lab*, RGB, or absorbance units. So that objective color analysis can be used to control quality, or to measure chemical concentration.

Calibrating a colorimeter before testing is critical for accurate, reliable color data—counteracting instrument drift, environmental interference, and component wear to ensure measurements reflect true sample colors. It guarantees compliance with industry standards, eliminates costly rework from flawed data, maintains brand consistency across batches/locations, and ensures data comparability with clients or regulators.

Calibrating a colorimeter before use is primarily to ensure the accuracy of measurement data and compensate for errors caused by the aging of internal components (such as light sources and phototubes) or environmental changes.

Below are the specific reasons:

  1. Compensation for Component Aging and Environmental Influences

  2. Compensation for Environmental Factors

  3. Standardization of Measurement Baselines

  4. Operational Specification Requirements

3nh colorimeters are designed for immediate measurement upon startup. However, calibration (via black-white correction) is mandatory for the first use, sudden environmental changes, or abnormal data to restore measurement accuracy.

The ΔE (Delta E) formula of the CIELAB color space is usually used to measure color difference. The difference is measured in a colorimeter or spectrophotometer to gauge the level of perceptibility of the difference between two samples in terms of L*a*b*.

To answer this question, you first need to clarify your specific needs:

  • Is it for simple color quality control (QC)?

  • To coordinate with supply chain color management?

  • To monitor on-line color stability?

  • Do you require computer color matching or production color correction?

  • What is your budget?

  • Systematic supervision and evaluation of color performance in dyed products?

If you aren’t fully clear about your requirements at the initial stage, our color management engineers are ready to communicate with you. We will recommend solutions tailored to your needs. When conditions permit, we can provide prototype demonstrations and trial testing to ensure the instrument meets your practical application requirements.

SCI&SCE are two method in the color measurement. SCI means Specular Component Include,SCE means Specular Component Exclude.

Under the method of SCE, only test diffuse refection and exclude specular reflection. In that way, the test result is similar to object color was observed by human eyes.

Under the method SCI, both the diffuse refection and specular reflection will be included. In that way, the value about the color is more objective. It will not effect by the environment condition.

When we choose the instrument, those elements should be taking into consideration.
